“So,
I guess this is it.” Chris stared out the front window of the car.
“Yeah,
I guess so. It feels weird that I am leaving.” Amy wiped the last few lingering
tears from her eyes. “So, do you think you’ll still text me, or maybe we could
video chat sometime?”
Chris
looked over, surprised. “Do you still want me to?”
“Yes, definitely.” Amy gave him a big smile. “Hello, you’re
like one of my best friends since I’ve been here.”
Chris
let out a little snort shaking his head at her comment. “Thanks, I guess.”
Amy
leaned in put her arms around Chris and hugged him. They stayed like that for a
minute then he pulled away. “Have fun tomorrow.”
“Thanks.
And thank you for everything this week.”
“No
problem. It was a great week.”
Amy
got out of the car, walking slowly to the front door and walked inside. She was
thankful that Rusty and her grandmother were already in bed. She peeked out the
window and saw that Chris waited for her to get inside. Her heart sank a little
as she watched him drive away. Something just didn’t sit right with her, the
way they ended. She was tempted to run back out and flag him down. She thought
about all the mean things Chris had said to her in the car about Tyler. Did he
say those things because he was jealous? She wondered if he did have actual
feelings for her and was hurt she and Tyler kissed. But, Chris had all week and
never made a move. There was that almost night at the pool, but then nothing
happened after that. No, she decided, he didn’t have feelings for her because
if he did, something would have happened. Tyler had spoken his mind and made a
move right away. I mean look how easy it was for Tyler. Tyler…she
thought dreamily. Tyler, my boyfriend. She
immediately went into the bathroom to brush her teeth, hoping to remove the
disgusting taste Tyler had left in her mouth. Next, she went into her room,
shutting the door and plopped down on the bed. She let her mind drift away from
the ride home with Chris and onto Tyler. She replayed the kiss over and over,
imagining it a little different…a little better each time, until her eyes shut
and she drifted off to sleep dreaming of Tyler.
