'Two
things in life are certain: taxes and death.' That's a
famous quote which everyone knows, but while people are happy to talk about
taxes, death is the taboo subject, avoided, ignored or feared or a mixture of
all these. So what does happen when we
'die'? Here are some of the questions you might have come up
with and possibly a few you didn't ...
Part 1
Questions on what happens to those who pass on
What is death?
To
those who are left on this side of life, it is the
ceasing of life in a human body, the moment when breath and brain function
stops. It is a moment feared by virtually everyone and
the occasion for grief and loss to come in.
But really it is merely the transition from this life to the next. It is like casting off of a shell so that our spirit, the real 'us' living
inside the human body, takes on its new form, pure energy and light. What we leave behind is no longer needed. It's like a
discarded coat taken to the charity shop, only this time it is either cremated
or buried to be quietly and reverently disposed of.
Where does the spirit go?
To
the Other Side, called the Realms, or Summerlands or you may want to think of
it as Heaven. It
is a place of great beauty, more beautiful than you can imagine or even begin
to imagine. There are colours not seen on this earth plane: flowers, trees,
animals, landscapes, buildings, lakes, parks, gardens, fantastic scenery of great mountains everything you ever thought was beautiful is
there. It is all guaranteed to make the most reluctant spirit feel welcome!
How do we get there?
People
who have had N.D.E's (Near Death Experiences) talk of being drawn along a
tunnel of pure white light toward the 'exit', the
Realms.
What happens when we get there?
Spirit
friends talk of the white light which has taken them home and say that at the
end of the tunnel they see people, their loved ones who have been
told of the passing in advance and who have gathered to welcome them
back. Whilst it is sad for those you leave behind, for those awaiting you it is
a time of great celebration for you have 'come home.'
What is meant by 'coming
home'?
The
one thing to remember is that we do not just 'appear';
we come from the Realms in the first place to inhabit a body on this side of
life, to learn lessons, to do something in particular, to help our progression
as an advanced soul or perhaps to teach.
Whatever the reason, we chose to come, we chose the parents, the place,
the life we were to live and we chose our moment to return, too. So whatever
suffering we endure, we have to remember that we chose
it and so we have to live through it.
Because we came from the
Realms, returning there is quite simply 'going home.'
