Synopsis

What happens when one angry man meets one mysterious man from a distant place? Wickedness?and then some?

The year is 1899; peace resides over the nice farming community of Millstone, New Jersey. Antoine, a French immigrant, comes to the United States looking for better opportunities. His goal is to achieve reasonable housing and pay for his hard work and dedication. Mr. Hull, a very wealthy farm owner, employees the immigrant. Hull treats Antoine very badly, stripping him of his dignity and crushing all of his hopes and dreams for a better life in the States. Antoine?s rage toward the man grows. As his rage festers, he meets Pierre Gille, who is from a mysterious world. United as one wicked force, they seek a revenge on this peaceful, farming community.

The outcome?a grim revenge that will send lunacy into the lives of many, eventually going full circle and changing everyone?s lives forever.

Who will be the unfortunate ones to perish, and who will be lucky enough to survive?

EXCERPT

The morning awoke with drizzle and mist painting the
scenery around the desolate pier in New York. Overnight, low
clouds and fog slowly crept in, creating an overcast sight. But
even with these bleak conditions, the sign, ?Welcome to Hope
Pier,? was still visible in the midst of murkiness. Getting its
name a long time ago by poet Robert M. Conrad, it symbolized
new optimism and hope for the immigrants that made that long
and dangerous journey here for new opportunities.

It was just past 6 a.m., and seagulls flying overhead were
looking for scraps to swoop down on. The large decaying boat,
the Legion Transport was making its staggered way toward the
shoreline. Dreary as everything appeared, numerous immigrants
from France stood on the deck of the ancient boat in
anticipation to step foot on the soil of the gracious United States.
This would bring true happiness to them.

It was 1899, poverty and disease had swept across the world, but many opportunities were still evident inside the United States. This brought many new people to the country, but it also brought in a new type of horror, masqueraded in many forms, faceless to the human eye, resembling you and me. A wise man once said, ?The worst evil in our world is the one that you can?t distinguish. This is when evil is at its most dangerous.?

Dull clunking noises could be heard as the aged boat was
brushing up against the rotten bulkheads in attempts to secure
itself at port. Grabbing the two brown mooring ropes that were
woven into big loops at each end, the crew tied off the bow and
stern to the cast iron cleats that were attached to the decking of
the pier. Last but not least, they threw an old wooden plank
from the boat onto the deck of the pier to be used for the exiting
passengers.
